Underworld Cup

A pair of fantasy enthusiasts who work part time as soccer referees discover that the deaths in their city and the relocation of Team USA’s practice fields is no coincidence. They realize that southern vampires are training to infiltrate Team USA, and to then use the World Cup as a venue to spread vampirism throughout the world, unless someone can stop these running, kicking beasts.

An episodic comedic piece in the style of Clerks or Waiting… that follows a pair of soccer referees through numerous amusing anecdotes over the course of a busy weekend soccer tournament. Behind the anecdotes is a subtle plot about the purity of the game vs. the boredom of work.

Who wrote this stuff?

I did. David Bush. I’ve worked in the film industry for the past five years, but I’ve been writing (fiction, poetry, screenplays, blog posts… anything with words really) since I was a kid. I’ve written more than a dozen feature film scripts (including several directly for producers at small studios) and countless shorts.

What are these ideas?

Surplus. Random story ideas pop into my head every day. Some of them (I think) are great. Others aren’t. But even among the ‘great’ ones, there are plenty that I simply don’t have the time or the inclination to write. I see no reason to trap these runt pups in the pound of my hard drive, when instead I could set them free here for you to adopt and evolve or torture as you see fit.

What if I like one of these ideas? Are they really free?

By posting these concepts here, I declare that I am dumping them into the public domain. I see no reason that this shouldn’t be completely legal. And since I no longer have rights of ownership over them, you are free to do with them as you please with no charge or obligation of any kind. Change them. Expand them. Destroy them. Write away.

Why so many holiday/disaster movies?

I worked for a time with a few companies that developed original films for the Syfy channel. I generated pretty substantial lists of possible titles for them to review. Some (the worst ones) caught their interest. Most didn’t. Of those that didn’t I went on to flesh some out a little bit, only to eventually dump them here. Hey, a little kitsch never heard anyone.

Can I contribute movie ideas to be posted here?

Unfortunately, no. As the sole author of the now homeless ideas here, I am able to assure the originality of the ideas and thereby guarantee that you’re not stealing from anybody by using them. As much as I’d love to trust the internet, I don’t, and I don’t want to unintentionally facilitate intellectual property theft.

What if I think one of the ideas on this site is stolen?

Well… think again. But, I suppose it is possible that you and I were both visited by a slutty and disloyal muse. If you think that’s the case and you’re worried that me posting our identical idea-twins is going to sabotage your quest as a writer, then shoot me an email and we’ll figure it out.
