Guilty

This dark courtroom drama centers around a man who is caught taking voyeur-like pictures of young girls in swimsuits at an amusement park.  Police investigate his house and find thousands of such pictures.  The man stands trial for possession of child pornography.  After a long trial, the jurors find him innocent of the charges but feel strongly to the contrary.  The man is released but is awakened in his house by the jury who run a short kangaroo court and execute him.

Stand Again

People whisper that Eliza might just have terrible taste in men when she presses rape charges against her new boyfriend only a year after her husband was indicted for sexually assaulting a coworker.  But the coincidence goes even deeper than that.  In both cases, the trial hinges on one key witness, and it’s the same person.  Of course, it turns out that Eliza is falsely accusing her new ‘boyfriend’ and the point of the trial is actually to prove the unreliability of the witness who sent her husband to prison.

Abuse Abused

            As a young girl, Karen’s mother accused her father of domestic abuse, and he lost custody and disappeared from their lives.  Though the community supported the court’s decision, Karen has always been convinced that her mother did it solely because her father didn’t ‘provide’ well enough.  Now Karen is an adult, on her way to a successful professional career, but she’s increasingly dissatisfied with the way her husband is treating her.  Does she call his actions abuse?  And if so, is she exploiting the system in exactly the same way her mother did?
