Maid to Order

            Galina’s only escape from a viciously chauvinistic and abusive life in the Ukraine is by becoming a mail-order bride.  The man who brings her over seems to be a nice all-American man, but when she begins to suffer from traumatic memories, he realizes that she is more of a burden then he expected and he begins to treat her less like a person and more like a disposable object.  Now she struggles to discern the motives of his male friends who offer to help her, and wonders if her best option might be to run away again and try a new life elsewhere.

Volcano de Mayo

            A white coyote escorts a family of would-be Americans across the Rio, when the water starts to feel muy caliente.  It begins to boil, and only a young immigrant girl and her brother escape to tell of the reddish glow from beneath the border.  As Cinco de Mayo approaches, and traffic between the countries increases, it’s up to the illegal siblings and a variety of other border dwellers to prevent a massive catastrophe caused by el nuevo volcan.
