Swarmaggedon

            At NASA, engineers have designed nanobots to be used for mapping and exploring the Martian wilderness in what will hopefully be the last un-manned Mars mission.  The activation process is begun shortly before the nanobots are shipped to the launch site.  Unfortunately, the exploration programming is too good, and the nanobots escape from their containment and flee into the country-side.

            Scientists immediately pursue the swarm of nanobots, which appears to laymen as a swirling dark dust cloud.  The situation grows more severe when the nanobots become negatively affected by southern humidity and initiate an emergency repair protocol, which calls for them to consume useable materials.  They soon develop the ability to reproduce, creating new nanobots and expanding the cloud.

            Now the race is on to find a means of deactivating the swirling swarm of nearly invincible nanobots before they spread around the earth, consuming all material in their path and turning the planet into a barren wasteland like the one they were originally designed to explore.

Earthworm Day: Global Worming

            We follow a pair of worms as they lay eggs.  The eggs are carried away in a river of refuse, which goes into a smokestack, which we reveal is in a toxic landfill, and then we follow the steam as it rises up and merges with the angry storm-clouds that fill the sky.  The clouds spread out as the worms grow within.  In a small south-eastern town, a storm is suddenly punctuated by a rain of… worms.  The worms are tiny, and disgusting though it may be, no one is terribly affected.

            Then they bare their teeth… literally.  They have sharp fangs, and instead of burrowing in dirt, they burrow into human flesh.  And this epidemic is affecting cities all over the world.  Different areas deal with the crisis differently.  Napalm and mass worm burns are popular approaches, but it seems that the more the atmosphere is polluted the worse it gets.  Foot long razor worms overrun chemical factories and refineries, as a city scientist struggles to figure it out.

            People seek shelter indoors, but the more highly evolved worms are having no trouble burrowing through stone.  Finally, the scientist notices something.  Nothing he’s testing on the worms works, but the worms that he first captured, the ones that he put in jars full of dirt, are dead.  So the secret is healthy, unpolluted Earth, and the race is on to spread the word and hope it’s still early enough to get rid of the worms.

The Wrath

Thriller about a small town that is plagued by a swarm of locusts.  When an unusual wind diverts the swarm from its regular path, they become a nuisance for a small town.  The inhabitants of the town find it impossible to kill the creatures, and when the insects begin biting and killing, they have no choice but to hide inside.  Religious people call it judgment day.  Others call on the government for aide.  Film ends when the swarm leaves, having killed every person in the town that killed one or more of the locusts.
