Chains

Johns is a struggling single father of three in the mid 1800s, attempting to raise healthy children with a positive moral grasp of the horrors of slavery. He’s struggling to feed his kids on a teachers salary. Also, there’s lots of negative views from friends and relatives concerning his views on black americans. Especially from his brother who owns a small plantation in the south. His brother has offered handouts to help Johns, but Johns refuses, as his late wife would never have approved of accepting money generated by slavery. When Johns’ brother dies and Johns inherits the plantation and the slaves. He wants to free the slaves, but if he does, he knows that he will lose the property and be unable to feed his children. He tries to befriend the slaves and do right by them while persuading them to stay, but it’s virtually impossible and of course his kids are learning that slavery means they get to eat. Emancipation means that they go hungry.

Better to Rule

A demoness named Cassandra aims to become a ‘guardian’ after she learns that they have better retirement benefits. Unfortunately, the angel dominated workforce is rife with rampant discrimination. For example, the training facilities are often flight-accessible only and of course, Cassandra doesn’t have wings. Also, there’s a pretty strong conservative faction among the angels who seem to think that letting a demon in could pollute the purity of the whole guarding business. And the spearhead of this faction is none other than… God. This is a bummer as he kind of runs the whole operation. Oh, and Cassandra’s family aren’t exactly down with this career goal either.

Shades of Dark

A dark comedy about the bitter rivalry between a film noire style private eye agency and a group of black film style guns for hire.  The two groups battle it out in a comedic mix of cinematic styles with serious implications about the nature of race relations.  Eventually members of each group band together to take on a local crime lord.
