Excitement
abounds in Punxatawney Pennsylvania as everyone wait for Phil to pop out of the
ground. After a moment too long he
emerges, but before he can see his own shadow, a massive shadow engulfs
everyone. Tourists follow the groundhog
as he hauls ass away from the site where a massive comet is casting its shadow on
the Earth. A few people who got out
early escape the immediate blast as the meteor creates a gopher-hole of
destruction a hundred miles across.
Almost as
bad as the initial damage, is the massive cloud of dust that the rock kicks up
into the air, enveloping hundreds of miles around in darkness and ensuring that
winter will definitely last longer this season.
A few of the escapees of the blast sight insist on going back to see if
they can find any survivors and make their way over the ridge at the perimeter
of the blast, and down into the chaos that was once Pennsylvania.
Now these
survivors must make their way back towards the center of the disaster
contending with treacherous terrain, overwhelming cold, and animals that are
upset not only by the climate, but also by the destruction of their homes. This will certainly be a day that these
people hope never to repeat again.
